Using Local Desktop Compute to Remotely Identify Flowers via Phone

I used my desktop (now aided by a remotely triggered, mechanical startup device) to do some image analysis of some flowers via a front-end that I prompt engineered. In this case, I leverage Gemma 4 26:b. All data is encrypted in transit, and large payloads are compressed for reliability. Speech-to-text and text-to-speech makes the experience more user-friendly.

You might see some similarity to a previous project I worked on, the Remote Mode for a project that I had called Mekno. This is really the next iteration of the same core idea that I had applied there: local AI serving a client, in this case a web UI on my phone.

You can view more info on this project and more here.

Until next time.
