TinyML Study Session One

As part of my efforts to upskill in the areas of embedded systems and edge computing, I’m taking keen interest in the (generously free) Machine Learning Systems textbook and the hands on labs therein.

In particular, I’m working with the Seeed XIAOML Kit.

Today I worked on the setup and got the blink test to work.

One deviation; I made several attempts at downloading the XIAO_ESP32S3 board in board manager in the Arduino GUI but found that I couldn’t do so, as the download kept timing out. I tried a couple different workarounds here but nothing stuck.

In the end I used platformio and then download the PlatformIO extension within VSCode. That worked just fine.

I’ll continue on from there next time.
